Acer ScanPrisa 620P The parallel port interface hinders the scanning speed a bit, but overall, the ScanPrisa 620P is a decent scanner for home users. It is sturdily built, though the plastic grooves of the lid often fail to sit properly. Remarkably, for such a low-priced scanner, the bundled MiraScan driver offers a host of photo-editing applications besides its own monitor gamma correction feature. Also bundled is the Xerox TextBridge program that does a fairly decent OCR, and saves the document in a host of formats like RTF, DOC and TXT. Even the scanned picture output is excellent, with no hues visible. It distinguishes very clearly between different shades of grey. However, one generic problem with most Acer scanners is the absence of manual of the scanner operations. Instead, you get a manual on the MiraScan software. |
